I went the rustic route and chose a twine. These bows from Amazon come with ribbons you could tie together and not use a string but I preferred using them with a string. 
Prepare Your Bows:
If you already have fluffy bows, great! You can easily find pre-made bows at craft stores or online. If you want to make your own, cut strips of fabric or tulle and tie them into bow shapes. The fluffier the fabric, the more voluminous the bows will appear. You can also experiment with different sizes for variety.
String the Bows:
Once you’ve gathered all your bows, it’s time to start stringing them onto the ribbon. Simply thread the ribbon through the center of each bow, and space them evenly apart. I attached the end of my string to a pencil with tape and slid it through the back of each bow. I then trimmed the ribbon in the bows down.
Hang Your Garland:
Once your garland is complete, it’s time to hang it! Drape it across a mantel, along a wall, over a window, or even around a mirror to bring in the Valentine’s Day spirit. You can hang it in a straight line or loop it for a more whimsical effect.
